SUMMARY:i2connect Excellence class in Crete
DESCRIPTION:The i2connect project is all about encouraging interactive innovation processes that mobilize diverse actors such as farmers/foresters\, advisors\, researchers\, businesses\, NGOs etc.\, who put together their knowledge\, skills and experience\, to address a joint problem to which they seek a solution. Farmers\, practitioners or end-users as experts share power and responsibility and actively contribute to influence the process thereby resulting in joint ownership of the outcome. \nWhy Interactive Innovation? \nThe rationale behind this is simple: the traditional way of improving performance of farmers / foresters by asking experts / advisors to analyse the situation\, diagnose the problem and come up with the solution is no longer sufficient in many situations. The complexity of many problems in agriculture and forestry requests for a bottom-up multi-stakeholder innovation approach.  \nWhat is an i2connect Excellence Class? \nThe Excellence Class is a master class designed for managers in the field of agricultural advice and innovation. Inspiration from the i2connect project and findings and lessons learnt on interactive innovation will be complemented with participants’ experiences and ideas. Resulting in a shared vision on how to create a good biotope\, in which the organization and its advisors are optimally equipped for guiding interactive innovation processes. Learn more in this video! \nThree topics will be addressed specifically \nAn i2connect survey among advisory organizations revealed three main concerns for interactive innovation: \n1.Human resource aspects\, i.e.\, the skills and competences that their advisors need for interactive innovation. \n2.Organizational aspects\, i.e.\, the consequences of interactive innovation for the work organization. \n3.Financial aspects\, i.e.\, the impact that interactive innovation will have on the organization’s business model and continuity. \nWho should participate? \nThe Excellence Class is a master class designed for managers in the field of agricultural advice and innovation. \nRelated to the three topics\, we cordially invite three types of managers*: \n1.human resource managers \n2.team or project managers \n3.overall managers of advisory organizations \n* If managers are not able to participate\, delegating a senior advisor with close links to the management board may be the next-best alternative. \nPractical information for participants \n\nAn Excellence Class will have a maximum of 20 participants\nThe full program of the Excellence Class consists of:\nThe 2\,5 hours introductory online webinar\nThe 2 days of Excellence class meetings on September 28th and 29th *\nEnrollment is free\, but participants must attend the full program\n\n* The Excellence classes follow the i2connect General Assembly 2023 in Crete\, Greece. \nHow to subscribe? \nSend an email to Dora.Lakner@wur.nl to subscribe* \n* The Excellence Class will be organized four times (with 80 managers in total). So\, if the manager that you approach is willing to participate but cannot join the webinar and the meeting in Crete\, then it is recommended to send an email to Dora anyway. She will then put this manager on our waiting list to be invited to one of the other Excellence Classes. \n

SUMMARY:i2connect Cross visit in Italy
DESCRIPTION:\nCREA and FIRAB are pleased to invite you to a cross visit in Italy organized on October 12th -13th\, 2023 in Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia Regions. \nThe cross-visit will be focused on experiences related to organic farming. It will be a great opportunity to put into practice the co-creation tools and to enlarge the network with advisors from all over Europe. The participants will be visiting and meeting with AVEPROBI and AIAB Friuli Venezia Giulia. \n\n\nDAY 1: 12th October – Vicenza – Veneto Region \nAVEPROBI is a regional association of organic producers and processors\, which for more than a decade has devoted part of its activities to the on-farm conservation of local agrobiodiversity\, catalyzing energies\, and initiatives among groups operating on cultivated biodiversity in Veneto. \nA Community Seed Bank (CSB) has been set up to promote the development of innovative cereal-based value chains\, both at the seed and the final food product level. Its governance and business model are based on participatory approaches in order to achieve operational effectiveness and stakeholders consensus. \nLocal farmers’ networks are called to reproduce the seeds\, to foster and monitor their evolution and adaptation as well as to facilitate their sharing. \nThe Community Seed Bank is a novelty in the Veneto territory and the adaptation to the regional circumstances requires the identification of durable enabling conditions: linking up farmers and consumers (and dedicated processors in-between) around organically cultivated biodiversity makes the dynamic conservation of heritage seeds part of a larger social dynamic. \nDAY 2 : 13th October – Udine – Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) Region \nAIAB FVG is the regional branch of the Italian Association for Organic Farming (AIAB)\, representing organic farmers and advisors as well as consumers. AIAB FVG aims at consolidating and promoting the organic farming method\, involving all stakeholders and collaborating with regional institutions. \nIn 2023 AIAB FVG has been tasked by the Regional Administration to offer free non-continuous technical advice to organic (or transitioning to organic) farms located in the region. The service is carried out by means of one or more visits to the farm\, lasting a maximum of four hours and focusing on specific topics that differ depending on the crop or farm production orientation. At the end of each visit\, the farm simply has to countersign a declaration stating the intervention of the appointed technician. The crops covered by the organic advisory and technical assistance service are arable crops\, horticulture\, permanent fruit crops\, and viticulture. \n\n\nArrival should be planned for 11th October 2023 and departure can be planned to start from 18:30 (for participants traveling by train/car) and 20.30 (for participants traveling by plane) on 13th October 2023. \nNearby airports:  \n\nTreviso airport; \nVenice airport (1 hour by train);\nVerona airport (2\,5 hours by train).\n\nRegistration is open until the 7th of September. If you are interested to join the cross-visit\, please contact CREA team Valentina Carta valentina.carta@crea.gov.it \n\n
