Ποια ήταν η πρόκληση/πρόβλημα που αντιμετωπίστηκε?

A local working group on plant health (advisory agents) identified the need to improve the sustainable handling of plant protection products during filling and cleaning of the sprayers. An operational group was formed to elaborate solutions for fruit and wine producers aiming to prevent point-source pollution of water. Both single-farm and collective sprayer washing facilities are considered in the project work. Technical guidelines and scenarios of implementation are elaborated. Επιπροσθέτως, the research partners perform experimental work and all information is used to inform local decision makers and practitioners.

– Strong awareness of the farmers to the problem

– Project group is part of the scientific European network dealing with the topic

– Good contact with the regional and national policy makers

What were the main challenges during the innovation process?

– Identification of solutions suited to the regional needs (the region has a unique structure as it is characterised by many small-scale farms)

– Necessity to have a clear legal framework to implement sprayer cleaning facilities (at the moment the update of the National Action Plan (PAN) for the sustainable use of plant protection products is under review)
