¿Cuál fue el desafío/problema abordado??
The main problem and challenge that our project addresses is the fight against land abandonment, depopulation in rural areas, the generational change of young people in the agricultural and environmental fields and the food waste. The lack of technology and innovation applied to the agricultural system in our country and of auxiliary agri-food facilities complement the difficulties for rural development in our country.
The importance is much greater than apparently the majority of citizens can see. The rural population is becoming smaller and increasingly leads to life in cities. Food production has always been in rural areas and currently this is disappearing, in our region almost no one produces food and on the other hand in the cities the food is increasingly of lower quality and unhealthy. In parallel, environmental destruction is generated due to the abandonment of farmland and forestry, reducing the regenerative capacity and maintenance of biodiversity.
The biggest challenge was to be able to design and “sew” a collaborative network that integrated technological, social, environmental and food solutions. Being able to unite all these elements and shape a functional organizational and operational model in the agricultural field was hard, long and satisfying work.
¿Cómo resolviste el problema??
As we progressed in the project we realized that the problem did not require a single solution, but rather that multiple tools were required to address the challenge; unlocking of the land by owners who, without having the intention of working it, were no
¿Qué es innovador en su caso práctico??
The main innovative component of the Bioterreta Agrarian Custody Project is the integration of two groups of tool systems that interact as formalized structures. The first functional group is made up of agrarian stewardship, the circular economy and agro
¿Cuáles son los factores de éxito para resolver el problema??
The main success factor is the technical engineering team of the Bioterreta project. A team trained and committed to the social and environmental problem we face. Another success factor is the collaboration of all the farmers and owners of abandoned plots
Lecciones aprendidas
Having the opportunity to launch a project of these characteristics has provided us with a lot of knowledge in the agro-environmental and social field. We have learned to develop a project that provides solutions to real problems and has helped us discover the failures of the system in our territory. The system that worked decades ago is not functional right now and must be decisively changed. For this, transgressive and disruptive ideas are needed and “yes it is possible.”
¿Qué papel juega el asesor o servicio de asesoramiento con el caso práctico??
Angela Gimeno Martínez is the Agricultural Engineer who works as an advisor to the project and her role as a professional and woman has been decisive. Its holistic and integrative approaches as well as its technical capacity have allowed us to recover lan
