The project will involve individuals who would like to learn how to develop their own personal projects (CREATE), companies that wish to challenge their business regarding forest bio economy (CHALLENGE), and people, El proyecto i2connect tiene que ver con fomentar procesos de innovación interactivos que movilicen a diversos actores, como agricultores/silvicultores., institutions and other agents who would like to become part of Cuenca’s forests’ bio economic ecosystem (CONNECT).

¿Qué es innovador en su caso práctico??
Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) is an Initiative of the European Union that provides urban areas throughout Europe with resources to test new and unproven solutions to address urban challenges.
They help with the start-up of ventures within the sector of forest bio economy in order to generate a sustainable impact in Cuenca and its forests. They train entrepreneurs to be leaders on the path towards the sustainability of our forests.
¿Cuáles son los factores de éxito para resolver el problema??
One of the branches with the greatest innovative potential of bio economy in Europe is forestry. Forestry proposes a sustainable use of the forest, generating economic fabric and employment in rural areas. This approach tackles forest abandonment and fires, has an important mitigating effect on climate change and can guarantee a safe and stable energy supply.
The incorporation of sustainability in the resource management systems, both of wood and the rest of its by-products, is crucial to forest bio economy. Por lo tanto, it is necessary to develop business models that combine eco-intelligence with sustainable and innovative design solutions.
Cuenca offers excellent employment opportunities and local economic development in this sector. There are many niches of opportunity that can be worked on, tal como: construction, biomasa, ecotourism and environmental education, agroforestry products, climate change mitigation, technology for forest management, biodiversity and water or chemical derivatives of wood.

La ” Living Forests ” programme is designed to strengthen the bonds between emerging generations and the natural treasures that surround us. They want to awaken curiosity, foster understanding and cultivate appreciation for our province’s forest ecosystems. In doing so, we not only create future stewards of our forests, but also conscious entrepreneurs and responsible citizens.
Advisors must be trainers, facilitators and participants in these Living Forests.
