What was the challenge/problem addressed?

Farm advisors play a key role in disseminating research and facilitating the uptake of innovative soil management practices. To do this successfully, advisors need to be closely involved in the R&I process. This session will explore approaches for knowledge transfer to farm advisors and alignment of activities between European projects through a combination of presentations and interaction with participants. Key objectives are to:

(1) consider the challenges associated with knowledge transfer to such a diverse group,

(2) understand the current landscape of farm-advisor-specific research, ja

(3) gather input from the stakeholder community regarding knowledge gaps, success stories and areas for improvement.

Miten ratkaisit ongelman?

The European Mission Soil Week is an annual event aimed at promoting the Mission Soil, raising awareness about the importance of soil health, and driving action to protect and restore our soils.

By bringing together experts, tutkijat, policymakers, land users and the public, the event serves as a platform to get informed about the latest research results on soil health and discuss important topics related to the major challenges regarding soil health. These may include innovative approaches for sustainable soil management, soil conservation techniques, soil remediation strategies, new business models (esim. carbon farming) and the need for regulation.

In this event was held a number 5 breakout session: Knowledge transfer to farm advisors.

Mikä on innovatiivista käytännön tapauksessa?

The event has had particular importance in the context of the European Soil Monitoring Law. The proposal for a directive was launched on July 5th 2023 with the aim to ensure healthy soils by 2050 in close connection with the Mission Soil.

The European Mission Soil Week, locally hosted by INIA-CSIC at the central facilities of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), will take place under the Spanish EU Presidency on 21-23 November 2023 in Madrid.

In order to obtain some outputs of the attendees, to dynamize the breakout session a didactic digital tool was used: slido.
