Quel a été le défi/problème abordé?

ForCons Ltd. provides forestry consultancy service for private forest managament organizations in Hungary. We have been supporting to introduce selection cutting forest management methods at beech and oak forest stands in Tokaj-mountains since 2009. The previous forest managament methods are replaced by long term (min. 40 années) selection cuttings. At first, the gaps (max. 500 m2/gap/ha) as cutting areas are cut. The next step is the cut among the gaps. Under the program, logging and material handling takes place in an environmentally friendly way (raised, not logged on the soil surface). Particular emphasis is placed on the presence of standing and lying deadwood (5 m3 / ha), seed-tree groups and mix tree species. By applying the above method, the stability of forest stands increases, the effects of climate change can be managed, and changes in the timber market can be better adapted.
