Kāds bija risinājums/problēma?

To achieve the growing needs of the 30,000 irrigating farmers in the Adour-Garonne region, some fifteen Chambers of Agriculture in south-western France have joined forces in the Ogaya program. Faced with the growing impact of climate change and the increasing difficulty of meeting crop water requirements, farmers in this region are facing increasingly complex challenges. Increasingly frequent droughts are seriously compromising crops. Advisors from the Chambers of Agriculture play a key role in helping farmers meet these challenges. The creation of the Ogaya program, bringing together these advisors, was born of a real need to acquire references to improve this support. Collaboration between advisors enables in-depth knowledge sharing and the creation of farmer support programs through working groups. This network is distinguished by its dynamism, encouraging regular face-to-face and remote exchanges on technical and methodological subjects. The program also facilitates the transfer of individual initiatives to the rest of the group.

Kā jūs atrisinājāt problēmu?

The Ogaya program supports irrigators in south-western France, in particular by providing collective advice on irrigation for different production sectors. This advice is based on a network of 300 reference plots representative of the region’s diversity. Individual support is provided by the Ogaya farms network. After a systemic diagnosis of the farms, the advisors can offer appropriate support. This network also enables the acquisition of references on water management, with a view to sharing innovative practices. Some fifteen farms currently make up the network, which will eventually cover all the agricultural diversity of the basin.

Kas ir novatorisks jūsu praktiskajā gadījumā?

The program has been strengthened with regionalization and the creation of an Ogaya visual identity. Dissemination is all the more effective this way, and brings together different types of support under the common Ogaya banner :

Collective advice on water management from a network of over 300 reference plots.

Weekly irrigation bulletins sent to all irrigating farmers in the area

A Youtube channel featuring over 350 technical and thematic videos

Kādi ir veiksmes faktori problēmas risināšanā?

The Ogaya farms network is an appropriate way of disseminating the references we have acquired. The progressive development of this network is an important indicator for measuring the impact of our actions. Within this framework, it is possible to carry out certain tests and trials on water management. These farms are monitored over a period of several years, enabling us to see first-hand the improvements achieved. Papildus, the organization of farmer exchange days will enable us to see more concretely the benefits of networking.

Gūtās mācības

The strength of the program lies in the development of a network of irrigation advisors, responding to their needs in terms of training, support, expertise and so on. They are the direct beneficiaries of the program, and co-construct the various actions proposed each year. Despite their wide geographical spread (south-western France), they are keen to meet and exchange views on the content of their professions, and the difficulties and opportunities they face. The network alternates between face-to-face meetings and frequent remote exchanges (videoconferencing, social networks, utt.), which helps to maintain a close link between the various network members and to integrate new members. For new advisors in this field, the OGAYA network is also a means of learning quickly from peers on a complex, cross-disciplinary subject, benefiting from feedback from advisors of different ages and profiles.

Kāda loma ir konsultantam vai konsultatīvajam dienestam ar praktisko lietu?

The regional coordinators help the group of advisors to improve their skills in both technical and methodological areas. Piemēram, they organized a presentation by a technical institute on the latest advances in research into the link between water and soil. The presence of a coordinator for the Ogaya farm network helps to homogenize production and encourage links, exchanges and transfers between the various farmers. Piemēram, with the help of advisors from the various departments, she organizes a day of exchange between all the farmers in the network around a common theme.
