What was the challenge/problem addressed?

Active farmers discussion groups facilitated by ProAgria advisors have gathered together since 2004 in Finland om nieuwe informatie te delen, to analyze the current situation and results and enable better practices as quickly as possible to get even better results. Er is een aanzienlijke toename van goede resultaten, vooral in West-Finland, waarbij bijvoorbeeld de gemiddelde kuilvoeropbrengst van een hele voorbeeldgroep is toegenomen 90% in een periode van zes jaar. The most active discussion groups achieve the best results and in long term group system they keep their enthusiasm and positive attitude from year to year and understand the need of finding new ideas outside the group too. Cinstant co-operation with other European countries top farmers and advisors, even working together in farm level or in other countries discussion groups, opens the eyes for both: the group members and the facilitators -and makes it possible to constantly develop and renew the discussion group system. The discussion groups of Western Finland make different type of study trips abroad half-yearly.

Facilitating skills and training the skills very active even in other countries , developing the group system constantly together with the farmers and other countries facilitators, long-term enthusiasm and of the case developers, who all these years have been working in practical group level too

What were the main challenges during the innovation process?

Alternating people in facilitators group, lack of financial support in the study trips abroad, knowledge of languages, limited amount of persons who are suitable in working with international discussion group network
