Wat was de uitdaging/het probleem aangepakt?
The project aims to support farmers in the sustainable management of the Wicklow & Dublin Uplands, covering approx. 35,000ha of upland area. The SUAS project was developed by local stakeholders, and focuses overcoming local challenges, which hassled to good bur-in from local farmers. This is the first time commonages are being dealt with as a collective in Ireland as opposed to individual farmers and requires the formation of formal Commonage Groups to allow farmers make collective decisions and follow a single management plan for the whole commonage. The project will deliver a template for future agri-environment schemes for upland areas, with an emphasis on rewarding farmers actually delivering habitat management.
Wat zijn de succesfactoren bij het oplossen van het probleem??
Idea was developed from the bottom up over a long number of years which generated good bu-in from prospective participants and other stakeholders. A large element of trust and solidarity was built up during this process.

Kennisbewustzijn en -uitwisseling, Adviserend, consultancy en backstopping gericht op het oplossen van complexe problemen, die tijdens het innovatieproces moet worden geboden en gebaseerd op de eisen van actoren en de gezamenlijke constructie van oplossingen, Demand articulation, to allow actors to have access to new ideas, identify their needs, define their objectives and express clear demands to other actors, Netwerkfacilitatie en -bemiddeling, netwerken helpen organiseren of versterken, de relaties tussen de belangrijkste actoren te verbeteren en de diensten op elkaar af te stemmen, zodat ze elkaar kunnen aanvullen, Capacity building, aimed at increasing innovation actors’ capacities in order to play their roles in the innovation process, Verbetering/ondersteuning van de toegang tot hulpbronnen door de toegang tot inputs te vergemakkelijken, faciliteiten en financiering, Het opschalen van de innovatie om de acceptatie door een bredere groep te vergroten
