What was the challenge/problem addressed?

The objective of the project is the implementation of an innovative tool for vine-growers which supports them in the decision making process in order to optimize the phytosanitary treatments. These would be justified on a technical-scientific base rather than the arbitrary choice of the entrepreneur.

To reach this goal there have been integrated and improved existing tools in order to create a new powerful Decision Support System (DSS) which will monitor the agro-meteorological conditions of the territory.

Thanks to the dissemination and training activities, the DSS has been adopted by over 500 wine sector farmers. (https://www.condifesatvb.it/bodi/)

What are the success factors in solving the problem?

– Stable relationship with a large number of agricultural entrepreneurs;

– High technical skills and instruments (weather stations) and presence of a provincial phytosanitary bulletin issued by Condifesa TVB and

– Provide unbiased technical advice and capillarity in the territory

What were the main challenges during the innovation process?

– At the beginning the training provided wasn’t enough to allow a full adoption of the innovation by the farms. Then the training activity has been strengthen

What role does the advisor or advisory service play with the practical case?

Knowledge awareness and exchange, Advisory, consultancy and backstopping aimed at solving complex problems, to be provided during the innovation process and based on demands of actors and the co-construction of solutions, Demand articulation, to allow actors to have access to new ideas, identify their needs, define their objectives and express clear demands to other actors, Scaling up the innovation to increase the uptake by a broader group
