What was the challenge/problem addressed?

Forestry has always been socially sensitive industry, representative and accessible geospatial information allow to ensure society that companies do credible, accountable and transparent forestry management with future generations in mind. To enable commercial companies to plan forest management activities accordingly we have developed such solution – a large, centralized geographic information system LVM GEO Platform for forest management planning. At this moment this solution is used by multiple companies in Latvia, enabling exchange of information much faster, have access to all relevant data layers in the office and in the forest. The platform has functionality and tools to support all forest management processes – forest resource planning and inventory, silviculture, production and forest protection. Currently this solution has been adapted for other industries as well (desease prevention, utility management, drainage management, etc.). https://www.lvmgeo.lv/en/
